Help: Rotting indoor palm.
I'm not sure what kind of palm it is and it's a little hard to describe (especially with my ignorance of terminology) but the base of the groups of leaves are rotting half way up the base.
I have pictures and one has already been cut off. I don't know if my cats got at it or if it just bursted out itself but I saw rotten matter from the side of it so I cut it off.
I've been making sure it's getting plenty of sun and haven't been watering it since the soil has remained damp. I have been using the same watering and miracle grow fertilizer once a week since I got it and it had been working fine.
Please help as I love this palm and this kind is hard to find around here. I would be crushed if it died.
Also, I replanted the cut off bit next to the palm and it seems to be doing better than the palm itself. Do you think it may continue to grow. It seems like it has already started to root, however I don't wanna pull back the soil and mess with it to make sure.
Thanks
