Default I have a Basil plant that was grown in water. What can I feed it?

I purchased it from the grocery store and put it in water when I got home. To my suprise it is surviving. I tried to plant the last one in soil and it died. It is fading a little and I'm sure it needs to be fed. Is there anything that I may have around the house that I could feed it? I have fertalizer sticks that I use for my potted plants; will those work, or will they be too strong? Thank you for your help.
It was hydroponically and yes it has roots. I planted the last one in dirt and it died. It's hungry and fading. It told me so. lol.

You could look up hydroponics on the Internet and check out how much fertilizer needs to be added per quart of water. Then look on the stick box to see what the contents of one stick is. Otherwise cut off a small tip and stick it in the water.
