Yes by all means....its worth growing your own vegetables!!
Starting with seeds are really easy! I start my little seeds every March in my kitchen window(faces south). If you buy seed packs, and you have some left over you can keep them for next year by: closing the packet with a paper clip, and putting them in a plastic bag and put them in the freezer, they will keep for next time in planting. * just an idea for ya*
If you eat eggs, you can rinse out your egg shells and save them,(let them dry out, and save them) they make great little containers for starting seeds, the egg shell gives nutrients to your seeds, and when you get ready to plant just place the egg shell and seads in the ground or in another pot... I do this with flower seeds too...excellent way to start the little seeds of any kind really!
Also..have you thought about doing Container Gardening..that is a really good way to have veggies, too. Especially if your hurting for space for a garden!! or if you live in an appartment and you have a balcony.
Good luck and Happy Gardening : ) *hope this helps you*

If you are looking to save money it is a toss up. If you are looking for the best food then grow your own. If this is your first year only start with a few item. Like tomatoes and cucumber's that do not take a lot of work.

Just start small and enjoy!
