Default my son poured salt on my vegetable garden and it made everything wilt. will

they ever recover? they vegetables that wilted are my watermelon plants and my cucumbers and the tomatoes just a bit

Depends on how much salt.

Water the whole thing really really really well, like for a day or so to try to leach out the salt, then hope for the best.

And spank the crap out of your son.

Aren't kids great??? LOL Rinse it all off, run enough water to dilute it down at the soil level as well, and give them a couple of days, they should be fine.

Salt will kill most of the plant. Spray your garden with a water hose to dilute the slat as much as you can, and it will be OK. You wish it's winter now, because where we are (California), it rains a lot in Winter. That will dilute the slat! Good luck

Farmers sometimes spray epsom salt on produce because magnesium helps plants. Pot ash has a lot of salt in it also. Just keep them watered and they should be fine.
