Default What vegetables grow best in dry conditions?

I want to have a vegetable garden this summer, but will be travelling a lot and unable to keep it well watered. What are the best vegetables to plant?

Most vegetables like regular water, perhaps you could try asparagus which seems quite deep rooted (well it's awfully hard to dig up) although you have to wait a couple of seasons before you can harvest it.

Some herbs are pretty drought tolerant- rosemary for example although again that is more of a perennial.

Potatoes you can mulch very very deeply so perhaps would survive.

It depends how dry and hot it actually is?
