I planted grass seed today?

I live in Nebraska and planted grass seed in a small area in my yard. I hope it isn't to late to grow properly.

How many days do I have to wait to see the first growth?

At this time of the year you might have only fed the birds. I have always waited until spring or early summer so the grass can establish itself before winter.
