Default I want to lay centipede grass sod down in my back yard, but I have a weed

issue back there.? Can I just lay the sod down on top of the existing weeds or should I remove them first. Its a new home and the weeds grew in my unsodded back yard. I would say the weeds cover about 60% of the ground and they are mixed with some bermuda grass that I tried to grow by dropping seed. Any suggestions??

You want to kill off any weeds that are actively growing. Otherwise, they'll grow up through the sod. In this case, the Bermuda grass is also a weed, since you want a Centipede lawn. So you want to kill that too.

Buy some Round Up concentrate and a 2 gallon pump sprayer. Mix up your Roundup and spray the entire back yard. In about a week, everything should be dead. Then, cut the dead grass and weeds on a very low setting and pick up the clippings. Voila! You're ready to put down your sod.
