Default I'm trying to become a photographer for portraits, weddings, landscapes,...

...and abstract...any pointers? I'm ready to graduate highschool and I already have a decent camera [[advanced digital--practically SLR]]. I have a portfolio but I don't know about schooling, advertising, or just some tips you've learned throughout the years.....
and about getting a business started later on...how would i do that and what degrees would be good to open my own photography shop.

First pointer is to decide which of those genres you actually want to pursue a career in.

Then go to college for photography. NYU and Ithaca College have fantastic programs. You can decided during your courses which genre you are going to focus on.

You should take business classes as well so that you are prepared to start your own business.
