Default Planter without drainage holes ok for grass sod?

My mom just gave me a terracotta planter with a strip of grass sod she planted in it.

The rectangular planter is about 16" long, 3 1/2 " wide, and 3" high, and has no drainage holes. The soil is still very wet after two days in direct sun. I wonder if I should drill holes or will the grass like it as it is?

it sounds like it would look very pretty!

don't bother with drainage holes for this one. just let the water absorbe into the terracotta and dry out a bit and then only water it when it really needs it (like when you notice the pot is too light).

if anything, it'll encourage the grassroots to grow nice and deep down into the pot, thus using up all the space and nutrients evenly.

and as with all plants: just don't overwater!

so do you have a barbie sized lawnmower too? too cute!

cheers!
