Default science fair in hydroponics?

Hi! I am an 11th grader and looking to do a science fair project in hydroponics. I plan on setting up a hydroponics system and finding out how plants react to lacking nutrients (with the control being a plant with all the essential nutrients) to discover what the most important nutrients are in growing plants and what effects this has on the plants' growth.

A few questions...How can I set up an easy hydroponics system to grow plants using different solutions and take out different nutrients from the solutions? How can I get these nutrients to test and which ones would I use? What type of plants would be easy to grow with hydroponics? Any other advice or help?
