My house has quite a few windows but my neighboring houses are quite close and there is a big tree over my back porch so I really don't get much sunlight in my house during the day. What are some good house plants I can grow in minimal light? (Besides cacti!)

A peace liliy plant. The one with the white flowers. Low light, no blooms, bright light it will bloom. When it droops, water it. It perks up within a few hours.Very low maintance. Also a pothos ivy likes low light. You can find these plants at any lowe's, home depot for very little $$.

First of all, if you have pets, make sure to look up which plants are toxic to animals. Philadendrons are good indoor plants and offer a wide variety; however, they're toxic to animals. Jades, Spider Plants, Catctus are all good indoor plants....any garden center can help you when you go to buy them. Think of the plants you see in offices. I had a corn plant tree for years that did well no matter where I moved. The cats loved it too. It was hardy enough that they could climb it without harming it.

Peace lilies are one of the only plants that will actually flower in low light (unless it is REALLY low!) I actually got a small flower on one in the bedroom, which almost always has the curtains closed and light off.

pothos, prayer plants, sensitive plants, ivys, philodendrons etc etc.....go to your local greenhouse supplier, they can help with all your needs....light requirments, watering etc etc etc...
