Default can I fly in the US with a houseplant?

ok, silly answers... I want to fly with my Christmas cactus. Does anyone know if it is allowed as a carry on?

Some of my best friends are houseplants too. In fact, there's one outside right now, calling my name. I'd say if you buy a ticket for it, you can take it any old where you want! Good luck with that! And hello to the plant!
