how can i look after a anuthurium house plant ?thanks so much !?

I live in ireland so ,keep it indoors ,just got as a present and it seems to be dieing already ,the yellow bits that come from the flower have lumps on them ,not sure what that means ,very inportant to me ,so would love to know how to keep it for a long time ,many thanks !
