I just noticed the other day that two of my large houseplants have mold all over the top of the soil! I've never seen this before, so how can I kill the mold without killing the plant? I have a young daughter who could easily get to the plants (she doesnt usually) and i'm worried she might get sick from coming in contact with the mold. The plants are large and have to sit on the floor, so I cannot move them up higher or out of her reach (space for the plants is limited). Can anyone tell me how to kill the mold? I've had these plants forever, i got them from my Mother who had them forever, so i'd hate to get rid of them just because some mold. Thanks!
It is not moss - it is definitely mold - it is white and a little green - ALL over the soil, none on the leaves...

Does anyone know if it is ok to spray some diluted vinegar on it?
