Default What is the best food for non-flowering houseplants?

I bought some Miracle Grow All Purpose Plant food figuring my indoor plants could use some food. Then on one side of the package I read not recommended for leaf feeding house plants. Just wonder if anyone had any thoughts on just exactly what that means. Should I try something else? Thanks.

Try the Miracle Gro sticks that go into the soil of your inside plants.
