Default Does anyone have an indoor herb garden?

If so, how did you make it and where do you put it to make the herbs grow the best? I would like to have cilantro, rosemary, basil, and thyme.

Yes, I've had best success with plants that were grown in containers during the summer that I can bring indoors during the winter. I prune (pinch, use) the plant so that it becomes rather small about the time I bring it in for good (eve temps in the high 40s F). I also work with plants that I know will handle the indoor climate (low humidity, higher concentrations of heat, lower direct sun, etc.) and have had luck with rosemary, thyme, sage and tarragon.

Hey there,

Yes. I have some sweet basil growing in the window. Basil smells wonderful!!!

Just get yourself any type of container... cups, cut off 2-liter bottles, pots... anything you can put some good potting mix in.

Fill them with the mix, then plant your seeds about 2/3 times deep as they are big. You could also possibly get some transplants at serious discounts this time of year.

Water, but not too much. People tend to overwater more than they underwater.

The best window for your herbs is probably a south facing one. North is probably the worst.

You may also consider growing sprouts. You can sprout lentils, garbanzos, pintos, etc.
