I want to plant a herb garden next year. Does any one have any tips or sugestions? I live in Western New York USA. When should plant? Are there some that should be planted in the fall and be allowed to germinate over the winter? (I heard of plants like tulips that need to be planted in the autumn.)

Anytime is a good time to start a herb garden. Springtime, March-April is a wonderful time to start putting out seeds and plants. The months of October and November are also an excellent time for herb gardeners. However, very hot weather is not the best time for planting herbs.....that's why I mentioned the spring and fall months above. Whether you are going to start a herb garden in the ground or in pots, it's time to get started. However, it is really great to start herbs in pots first if you are starting them from seeds.
