Default I am trying to grow basil in a mini-greenhouse...?

...and I put three seeds in one hole. Was this wrong to do? I did that because I thought I was making a buffer in case some didn't germinate, and I thought I was supposed to grow stuff in the MIDDLE of the peat pellet. So now I have two sprouts growing really close to eachother. But they just poked out of the soil. Should I cut one out now or do I let the two sprouts grow so close. It's early, so I think they hav't really developed roots or anything.
