Default organic herb garden... organic sprays?

I'm new at gardening and have just planted some herbs. I want to keep it organic. I have not seen any bugs or such on them yet, as I've just planted them (although I did see one evil caterpillar on the patio nearby which I killed). Is there something I should be doing now for prevention? Should I make an organic spray and spray it on the herbs now? And if so, does anyone have a recipe for such? Thanks
