Default Bat house for garden mosquito control?

I've been reading about controlling mosquitoes in a large garden space or yard naturally by means of having bats eat the mosquitoes. We have an ideal space to place a bat house to invite them to this area, but I have no sense of whether this is actually an effective means of mosquito control.

Before I buy or build a bat house, I'd love to hear from anyone who can attest to this and has actually done it before. Do the bats truly make a noticeable difference in the mosquito population of your yard? What is the best way to build a house, or a good place to purchase one? Success stories? Caveats? Thanks so much!

In NC I had swarms of bats every night that came to eat the mosquitoes. If you are not seeing bats in your garden at dusk I would not go to the trouble of building houses. I catered to homeless bats. They do eat masses of bugs including fire flies. If you don't see them then you don't have a big enough mass of skeeters. I still had the skeeters no matter how many bats snacked on them every night.

Well, I have a couple of bats around the property myself & they do wonders. We also have a couple of those Citronella plants-Here up in the country...we certainly got our share of them bugs. There are plenty of websites, books, garden mags on gardening & ways to attract different animals. And, if your lucky enough to view them in action- its even more of a treat!
