The first tomato from my garden has a black ring around the top. Is it OK?
My first ripe tomato has a black ring around the top where it looks like it wants to split open. wtf is up with that? On the inside close to the skin, the flesh around the seeds is greenish / brownish-colored, sort of like the inside of this Black Seaman tomato: http://www.yougrowgirl.com/thedirt/wp-content/uploads/blackseaman2.jpg . I don't know what kind of tomato it is, so I can't decide if it's supposed to have that brownish inside or if it's bad because of the ring. What's the black ring all about? Can I still eat it?
They're in full sun - hot sun - and definitely not over-watered because it's been like a drought summer for us. I had to water them every night in June so they didn't shrivel up and die, and after we got rain in mid-July, they took right off.
Go away, Moth. Jeez.
