The answer will depend upon several variables, 1) the height of the house, 2) the slope of the land, 3) the latitude that the house is in, 4) whether the day is cloudy. So if the House is a bungalow, the land slopes to the Southwest and you are in southern England then most of your garden will be in sun all day as the sun will be above the roof in mid summer. You can change the variables to suit and a house of 2 stories with a garden that slopes to the Northeast will have very little sun after mid day, however remember that the Shadow will only completely eclipse the sun from the garden when the sun bears Southwest.
