Try putting some mothballs around the perimeter of the garden, or I used garlic powder sprinkled on the dirt when I had cats in my garden. The strong smell will keep them from wanting to dig there. If that doesn't work though put some chicken wire over top or just bury some under the surface of the dirt so the kitty can't dig. Cats will dig anywhere so it's something you have to keep doing to keep them out cause they will return to try again.

Thats normal. Why is it that big of a deal? Would you want her to poop inside her litter box and stink the whole house? I think outside is better than stinky house.
