I keep 8 healthy blue swedish and rouen ducks, two silkie chickens, and one mentally retarded/ phsically handicapped duck.

He was born with a deformed neck and could barely walk. The chickens taught him how to eat without falling over and to run around. He never got the hang of swimming, he would just sit there and go in little circles because he could barely kick one of his legs. Then one day I put him in the tub, put on some Bon Jovi, and he started ducking his head, slashing, and acting like a duck. Now he is a handsome little devil who can put even the biggest blue swedish on the run. When I saw him start to swim and duck when I put on the Bon Jovi, I knew that was his name. His name is Bon Jovi.

Here is a picture of him:

And here's a pic of my youngest duck:

And then there's Henrietta. She was a chicken grown by Tyson and put on the truck to be taken to slaughter. She fell off and when I got home from school I brought her down to the house. Her wing was broken and the bone was sticking out through the skin. I bandaged it and put on betadine to keep out germs. The next day she had to have it amputated, it cost 60 bucks! Worth it though. She lived to see the ripe old age of 8 months old, they are only supposed to live to be 3 months old. At 8 months she had to be put to sleep, the steroids they injected her with caused her heart and lungs to wear out very quickly and she lost all circulation. Here is what she looked like, her nickname was "the sumo chicken":

You do give them acess to a crumble feed and layer feed right? Free range isn't enough, ecpecially in winter or droughts, they must have food put out too.

I would love to, but live in town, so there are ordinances against it. I kept chickens for about 15 years when I lived in the country, but then I moved to town. I really do miss them.
