My grandad used to bury bottles in the garden with the open end sticking out of the ground. Apparently air blowing over the top makes the bottle vibrate which the moles don't like.

Try fox urine and they can do damage beyond gardens and yards if they locate their tunnels under a pool (one example). What you see on the surface is only the first level of their home..it's their feeding tunnel.

They are completely harmless. The worst they will do is put some little mounds of earth on your lawn and dig a series of tunnels underneath that they will move through in their search for earthworms.

Moles don't like vibration so the empty bottles and the windmill ideas generally work.

Please don't poison them. They really are harmless little creatures.

1.Stick a childs' toy windmill into the soil over the mole run,or put gorse, holly clippings in the mole holes. You might find a molecatcher in Yellow Pages.
2.No,not at all.
3.Yes,they do.
Hope this helps.

As a Business Owner in the Landscape and Lawncare industry over the past 18 years, I've come across this question a few times (or more) each season. Everybody seems to have a "home remedy" for this nusiance...some may get results, while others may be caught up in the novelty of the process.

The latest research in killing these varmants points to Bell Labratories and their creation of Talpirid.
http://www.talpirid.com/

I am in no way connected with this company or product, but I plan on trying it this year. I think my clients will be more confident in this over tossing some bubble gum down a hole and crossing their fingers!

Good Luck!

Many speak on eliminating the moles' food as the forward-thinking troubleshoot. This would mean applying granular applications that kill grubs - the moles main source of sustinance...hope this helps!
