Default Bonsai experts- looking for a good starter tree (live) that will live...

...indoors, need recommendations.? Been wanting a bonsai tree to finish out an area of my apt. Ive been browsing ebay for live plants, nothing too pricey, i want to learn by doing. Finding ferts and soils might be tough around here, thats all.
If you know of a good species and/or place to get them that is reputable and decent, id appreciate it!
