Is my juniper bonsai tree still alive??
The pines on it are turning brown. I have been taking care of it the same as I always have, so I'm not sure what is going on. I have a few pictures, please check them out and tell me if this is normal or if it is dying. What can I do to get it back to being healthy and green??

I keep the soil damp. If it looks as though it is drying out I water it, and it has holes in the bottom to let excess water out. The soil it is in,not sure,it came with the tree when I bought it. It said not to use any other kind than that. I use a once a year fertilizer which I used in early spring. I put this mulch looking stuff on the top of the soil to protect it, it came with the tree as well. I keep the tree on my front porch. I put training wire on it and that is when it started turning brown, so I took it off. CONT. >>
I scratched the trunk of the tree and it was still green, also the branches bend without breaking. Some have told me it is still alive others say it is dead....so confused!!!
