Default In Central Texas: what kind of flowers should I plant?

I'm going to get some window planters and I would like to grow flowers that last all year.

Do you have recommendations for what I can grow Central Texas?

See planter: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=20222-27607-23671&detail=&lpage=none

Thanks!
Austin Texas to be specific.
I will be placing this planter on the railing of my front porch. It's on the Northeast side of my building and it gets plenty of sun. I live in an apartment and this is the only space I have to garden.

Hi. I live in Temple and do a lot of gardening. First, don't buy plants from Lowe's. Go to Hope Depot or a nursery. Second, it depends on where you are placing the planter... shade, part sun, full sun?? (Nice planter BTW)

Hi there, check this out:

Be sure to add water crystals to those window boxes so they don't dry out so fast.

In the hot summer, you will probably need to water in the moring and in the evening.

An excellent way of finding out what you should plant is to find out what Zone you are in. I imagine it would be something like zone 10. You can then go to www.google.com and put something like "Zone 10 plants" in and do a Google search. You will get all kinds of results.
