Examples of nonflowering plants are plants such as ferns, pine trees, mosses, fir trees, Ginkgo biloba, etc. Pretty much everything else flowers. Even plants such as oak trees and grasses are flowering plants. Their flowers are less conspicuous than that of a rose plant but those plants have the same parts.

Flowering plants have what are called whorls. Generally speaking there are 4 whorls. These are modified leaves that make up the flower. The outer most whorl are sepals or collectively, the calyx. The next whorl going towards the center of the flower is the corolla or the petals. Then it's the stamens. Finally the last whorl is called the pistil. The pistil is where the fruit eventually develops from. Not all flowers appear this way, but they will always have some resemblance to this typical model.

Nonflowering plants do not have these modified whorls forming flowers. Also they do not have fruits.

Non flowering use spores to reseed ie ferns, but flowers after pollination make their own seeds
