What are good kinds of flowers to grow on ground thats pretty sandy and that

have to be in the shade? I'm moving to a new house and my mom is very big on growing flowers. But the land is kinda sandy and there is alot of shade there. Does anyone have any good suggestions of flowers that would look good and won't have a problem growing there?
