In the book, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Sissy leave a pack of cigarettes with

France & Nolan...? They play with them, find something inside, hang it out the window, which is disgraceful and causes the parents to forbid Sissy from coming over. What was in the cigarette case?

No one at my book club can figure it out. We have a few guesses, but that's it. Do you know?
