Default Can I plant a Ficus Tree outdoors in the ground?

I have a nearly 8 foot tall Ficus tree, which is in a huge pot outside, it's always been an outdoor tree, and i've been considering whether to transplant it into the ground or into another pot.... and if i plant it in the ground, whats the best light for it?
