The Quran says Satan tempted Adam and Eve with a fruit that would make them immortal.

They didnt realize they already were immortal.

Deception........

It could have been literal AND it also symbolised obedience.
Adam and Eve were given the rest of the whole garden for themselves. They were asked to NOT touch just this one tree.
If it had not been for Satan, it is possible they might have obeyed. But Eve, first, then Adam, were mis-led.

I think it was literal, but the symbolism (as I see it) is humanity making themselves into gods themself (pantheism).

Its open to interpretation.

well i guess it depends
the bible was written based to what people can easily understand!!!
and if that takes a fruit/tree then that's what had to be written!!!
and Adam and eve were not immortal
they were already where we try to reach
some people call it paradise and other people
call it something else!!! and they through their sin/disobedience got themselves from perfection and immortality to this... where we are!!!

Oh no. It's a tree alright. The entire bible should be taken literally. It was dictated by God to his people, and they wrote it down word-for-word.
