Default Eight years after planting, the HOA is requiring me to remove 7 trees because...

...a neighbor complained. Thoughts? I have offered to remove some trees, in agreement with my neighbor, if the HOA will sign a document that they will not pursue any other tree removal in the future. They have not signed it, and I won't remove any trees without that signed document. Do I have legal recourse? What course do you recommend?
