I took a few seeds and planted them from an apple tree that is not a hybrid or some strange conventionally farmed tree. It is completely normal. How can I care for it and if it does sprout will it be the same type of apple?
oh and the tree I took the seeds from was not grafted; it is really a very old and large tree, maybe 50 yrs

Most fruit trees are graft trees. The root stock is different from the bearing part. This provides certain advantages in season, location and soil conditions. Your seeds may not do as well as the existing tree if they grow at all.

It should be the same type of apple. Care for it like any new plant. See that it has ample water but don't overdo it, remove any weeds that might compete for nutrition and water, and plant another apple seed about 20 ft away (perhaps a different variety). All fruit trees need to pollinate. During the second year when feeder roots have developed give them some fertilizer.
