Default My Son thinks money grows on trees?

I am worried about my son, he is 18 and still in school, and he is in wrestling right now, has wrestled since 5th grade, he is very good and has to maintain a weight of 145 and sticks to his diet to do so, but has no respect for money, alot of the meets are out of town, and he leaves on a bus the day before, and stays in a motel, I give him the money, and when I get to the meet, he always owes money to others and expects me to pay it, it is as if he thinks money grows on trees. My son has had everything he has needed, I am a single mother, and I know this is his last year of school, but he is draining me, what should I do?

I hate to say this, but you have enabled your son to become this way. You have to sit him down and tell him if he is going to continue traveling for wrestling meets he is going to have to get a job to pay for the expenses.

You have to stop the money waterfall now, or you will have an adult moocher on your hands in a few years.

Your son should have had a part time job for several years now, most teens do just so they can feel good about earning their own money and saving for the future.

Does your son expect you to support him through college also? Have you even discussed this? You should, before he gets any closer to high school graduation.

Good luck.

Tell him this instead of Yahoo Answers. He can't walk all over you unless you lay down. Tell him you aren't paying his debts(find out why he has debts), and if he needs anything past what you are giving him, he needs to get a job.

sometimes a little tough love is what is needed. Next time he asks for money dont give it to him. Put the problem back on him.. dont let him give you his problems and debts....

Be Straight Forward with your Son.
Tell Him How you Really feel about His spending
Habits. You are not ''The Bank of America'' and He
needs to know this,( RIGHT NOW! ) before He
BREAKS THE BANK, Leaves School and never
LEARNS the value of how to manage money.
P.S. Put Him on a Budget A.S.A.P.
