What are some decent native shrubs that i can get my mom for christmas that are ok to be planted in the winter? natives preffered.. woody plants preferred.. medium shrubs, large shrubs, small trees.. located in southeastern pennsylvania. partial to low sun levels.. well drained soils.. currently have viburnums, dogwoods, redbuds, rododendrons, pinus strobus.. surrounding forrest is hickory, poplar, maple.. and plenty of rosa multaflora

responce to answer#1.. thanks. i actually picked out all the shrubs thus far. im a landscape architect. i know its not the best time of year, which is why im trying to find the better ones to plant. i remember that there are some plants that do better in winter plantings, but i cant remember my schoolings

answer#2 blueberries is a great suggestion! unfortunately the only varieties i can find are all bred for their fruit production, and not either a: for looks, or b: a true native strain. thanks for the suggestions though!
