thing. what do i do? yes. it is true. there is a hole in my basement floor and a tree is starting to grow there! i am environmentally in love so i am not going to cut it down or the like. i think it might add a nice touch to the dull basement. it is a cypress tree. what do u think i should do??!!

don't cut it, and let it die a slow lingering death, as growing in a basement will not allow enough light for a healthy life -

or cut it out now, providing a more merciful end, and also keeping your house from developing any serious foundation issues from the growing roots.

If it is still a sapling you can probably dig it up from the roots and replant it in your back yard. If it has a wide base already and a tap root the best thing to do is to remove it from your basement before it causes foundation issues to your home.
Remember it's growing toward the sunlight and even if you prune the cypress it will continue to grow and cause major problems in your home.

Well, if you let it grow eventually, it will destroy your house... but I'd let it grow. It would be nice. You have to have light and water and love it!

I would just dig up the tree and plant it outside.
