Default Tree Planting for the Enviroment?

I want to start planting trees to help reverse some of the CO2 emissions we're producing. I want to start off with Oak. I have plenty of Acorns, sound ones that haven't been infested. Where can I begin planting some? There is plenty of open space so i'm not worried about that. Its fall now so is it a good time to begin? Can they be pot-planted first?

Oak has an unbelievable long root right from the start. All you really need to do is lay the acorn on moist soil and step in into the ground(not stomp). Within a few days the root will begin coming out and head down. They are not transplant-able and you would need a pot with at least 12" of soil for potting. You should also select your acorns from the best trees. You do know that a 10 year old oak is only about 3' high. Also if you have deer they love new oak trees. that's why when you see a field of oak trees in areas with deer there are no young trees. Since I fenced the deer out of my yard I have humdreds of new oak trees every year.

They can be plant potted first, and only about half will survive to be planted. In nature, only baout 1 in 25 or so actually grow.
