I would like to plant a tree of some sort of plant as a memorial to a friend that just past away. I have a courtyard with a koi pond and some other plants around. I think it would be a great way to remember him. I would like something apropriate to be used as a memorial. He was from Ireland, so that is why I would like it to be from Ireland.
Any suggestions?

Oh, and something that will grow/survive all year around.

I guess it would help to know where I live. LOL I live in Las Vegas. The soil is very dry hard dirt, but I did get grass to grow there. Also something that can be potted would be ok to.
