Default Why did God put the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden?

The biblical god then punishes Adam and Eve for gaining knowledge. The MEN who wrote the bible didn't realize that they were saying that their god disproves of knowledge. Is that why we have a "Creation Museum" , because knowledge is a sin?

The Creation story is metaphorical. Adam and Eve's decision to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (did you know that was the full name?) is symbolic of man's choice to try to make himself God's equal, or even greater than God.

Yes. Exactly.

God promotes ignorance.

Isn't that marvellous?

Zoning laws; God was constitutionally required to allow Satan to set up a sin-oriented-business somewhere within garden limits.

You go from one statement to something not related

Knowledge is not disapproved by God--your crude and somewhat rude interpretation cannot be backed Hermeneutically. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil is one tree. You are basing all knowledge on that tree. I hope you do not deal with logic. Knowledge is not sin--the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was sin for Adam and Eve. Never been and don't plan to go to the "creation museum" What does that have to do with
anything you are discussing?

According to the Gnostics, the God of this world (Jehovah) hates knowledge, for knowledge brings you closer to the true Supreme Being.

Before adam and eve both ate the apple, they did not know the consequences of good and evil. This was not the tree of knowledge, just knowledge of good and evil. So since they did not listen to God, they found out what good and evil is all about. Thus we experience this in our everyday lives.
