Default the fruit on my cherry tree does not grow big and plump the fruit turns

dark brown and dies why? the tree flowers ok and produces a fruit it starts to grow,itgets so far then starts to to turn brown shrivells and then drops of this is so dissapointing as the tree has a lot of fruit on it but we eventually end up with only a handfull of cherrys,can anyone help
