I want to keep bugs off of the veggie plants but don't want to risk ingesting the residue of anything poisonous. Thanks

You might want to visit your local library or bookstore and look through Jerry Baker's books. He's written many books on household things you can use to make your flower and vegetable gardens everything they can be. He uses ingredients like tobacco water, dish detergent, garlic water, etc... and will have the right recipe for what you want to kill or control! Happy gardening!
